Tablet App
Tablet computers have proven to be a huge success for mobile operators, generating much needed incremental revenues as traditional revenues have declined.
The J-Box Tablet App has been designed to extend the service and revenue footprint of mobile operators to both 3G and WiFi-Only tablets. Perhaps more than any other connected device, ultra portable tablets are frequently attached to several different access networks from several different service providers. The J-Box Tablet App allows mobile operators to maintain a presence on the tablet screen irrespective of which access network that the user happens to be connected to:
| Operator Benefits | User Benefits |
| Extend Service Reach Push services associated with your mobile phone numbers out to tablet devices, even if they connect only to data networks and have no GSM voice capability. |
Extend Mobile Number to Many Device Avoid new billing accounts with Internet based voice services by bringing your trusted mobile identity and service features to your tablet. |
| Increase Addressable Market As a “Cuckoo Service” the J-Box Tablet App can be provided to (and generate revenue from) every tablet user in your market (not just those connected to your network). |
Device Independence Enjoy all of your App features across multiple connected devices, even if they use different operating systems and application stores. |
| Increase ARPU and Margins Generate incremental service revenues from day one and then increase user numbers by acquiring more connections. |
Control Mobile Account from Tablet Use tablet based SMS broadcast and conferencing services from existing mobile billing account. |
Features
New Phone Line
- Once a new account has been created within the J-Box Tablet App, a new phone number is provided to the user. For example, even where users have a plain old mobile phone rather than a smart phone, the J-Box Tablet App allows them to acquire a second line service, with configuration details managed from their tablet and voice calls managed from their mobile phone.
- This enables users to give different contact numbers to different groups of friends, relations and work colleagues. The J-Box Tablet App can also then be used to create outgoing calls, which will acquire the new number as the CLI, even though the conversation is carried out at the mobile phone as normal.
- Furthermore, these outgoing calls from the App can be routed using the Internet. As such, the J-Box Tablet App offers users the benefits of high quality calls provided by their GSM device and at the same time offers the cheap international tariffs provided by VoIP.
Multi Device, Multi Network Calls
- The J-Box Tablet App includes a number of features that help extend the service footprint of the mobile operator across multiple connected devices and multiple access networks.
- Initially, at any time from right within the App, users can change the routing preferences for their second phone line. For example, calls may be routed directly to the mobile device, or else they can instead be routed to a VoIP client, maybe to avoid roaming charges while abroad.
- Possibly most usefully though, users can also apply a configuration within the J-Box Tablet App to have incoming calls ring all of their devices simultaneously,
with the call terminating at the first device to answer. In this manner, mobile operators can offer a new level of convenience for users with multiple connected devices.
Network Address Book
- A frequent complaint of users who maintain multiple connected devices is that each has it’s own address book. This is especially true for users who have a tablet device, which will frequently have an entirely separate contact list from the address book in their mobile phone.
- The J-Box Tablet App allows mobile operators to provide an elegant solution to this frequently articulated problem. With one tap on the J-Box Tablet App, users can back up all of the contacts from their device onto the J-Box Server in the mobile network. This means that whatever device they may be using and whichever network it is connected to, users can simply open their J-Box App or use a browser to see their entire address book.
- Similarly, the J-Box Tablet App can allow contacts from the cloud based address book to be stored on the local device. As such, even where users have connected devices with different operating systems, attaching to access networks from different service providers, J-Box allows mobile operators to provide a valuable and coherent set of Apps across this fragmented landscape.
Multi Destination Voice and Messaging
- The J-Box Tablet App includes features for both SMS broadcast and network originated conferencing. For example, within the App, users can highlight a few names and at a single tap, J-Box will call all of the destination numbers and pull them into a conference bridge (after a short courtesy announcement is played).
- The system also allows these conference calls to be scheduled, such that at the appropriate time and date J-Box will originate each leg of the conference call. This additional network centric intelligence obviates the need for users to remember bridge numbers and access codes in order to enjoy conferencing features.
- Rather, the J-Box Tablet App delivers added value and convenience for users who need to manage voice and messaging communications towards multiple destinations.
Fully Featured VoIP Client for Tablets
- One challenge associated with Android based tablets is that different hardware manufacturers have their own implementation of the platform.
- In addition to the native iOS Apps then, Vennetics also provide an Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) App, which can be deployed on Android tablets. As such, the full functional scope of the J-Box Laptop App can also be installed on Android tablets.
