Smart Phone App
The J-Box Smart Phone Apps are designed to give operators a presence across all smart phone platforms, which leverages core network assets to drive ARPU and customer satisfaction.
The J-Box Smart Phone App can be offered as a “Cuckoo Service”. This means that mobile operators can allow any smart phone user in their market to download the App and create a new billing account, directly from within the App itself. This greatly increases the addressable market for the new service and also allows mobile operators to start generating revenues from the customers of competitive service providers! Crucially though, J-Box technology builds on this Cuckoo Service model in order to help mobile operators leverage a new user base of customers on other networks, in order to win their subscriptions and thereby increase the number of devices connected to their own network.

Features
Second Phone Line
- Once a new account has been created within the J-Box Smart Phone App, a separate phone number is provided to the user. This new number is associated with the App and not related to the existing mobile number associated with the SIM card in the device.
- A second phone line for the smart phone allows the user to give different numbers to different groups of contacts but it also allows different calls from the smart phone to be charged to different bills.
- For example, a business may provide an employee with a smart phone for which the company will pay the bill. However, the business may also acquire a J-Box Smart Phone App so that the employee can make personal calls against a different bill that they will pay for independently. In this case, calls from the J-Box Smart Phone App will also acquire the new number as the CLI.
- Furthermore, these outgoing calls from the App can be routed using the Internet. As such, the second phone line offers users the benefits of mobility and high quality calls provided by GSM and at the same time offers the cheap international tariffs provided by VoIP.
Multi Device, Multi Network Calls
- The J-Box Smart Phone App includes a number of features that help extend the service footprint of the mobile operator across multiple connected devices and multiple access networks.
- Initially, at any time from right within the App, users can change the routing preferences for their second phone line. For example, calls may be routed directly to the mobile device, or else they can instead be routed to a VoIP client, such as to avoid roaming charges while abroad.
- Possibly most usefully though, users can also apply a configuration within the J- Box Smart Phone App to have incoming calls ring all of their devices simultaneously, with the call terminating at the first device to answer.
- This coherent service experience across Internet connected and GSM connected devices also extends to calls that are in progress. For example, a user who can see or hear another device ringing can use one tap on the J-Box Smart Phone App to hijack the call and answer on their mobile handset.
- Similarly, the App can be used to seamlessly move an ongoing mobile call to a laptop in order to add a video connection to the conversation. In this manner, mobile operators can offer a new level of convenience for users with multiple connected devices.
Network Address Book
- A frequent complaint of users who maintain multiple connected devices is that each has it’s own address book. The J-Box Smart Phone App allows mobile operators to provide an elegant solution to this frequently articulated problem.
- With one tap on the J-Box Smart Phone App, users can back up all of the contacts from their device onto the J-Box Server in the mobile network. This means that whatever device they may be using and whichever network it is connected to, users can simply open their J-Box App or use a browser to see their entire address book.
- Similarly, the J-Box Smart Phone App can allow contacts from the cloud based address book to be stored on the local device. As such, even where users have connected devices with different operating systems, attaching to access networks from different service providers, J-Box allows mobile operators to provide a valuable and coherent set of Apps across this fragmented landscape.
Multi Destination Voice and Messaging
- The J-Box Smart Phone App includes features for both SMS broadcast and network originated conferencing. For example, within the App, users can highlight a few names and at a single tap, J-Box will call all of the destination numbers and pull them into a conference bridge (after a short courtesy announcement is played).
- The system also allows these conference calls to be scheduled, such that at the appropriate time and date J-Box will originate each leg of the conference call.
- This additional network centric intelligence obviates the need for users to remember bridge numbers and access codes in order to enjoy conferencing features.
- Rather, the J-Box Smart Phone App delivers added value and convenience for users who need to manage voice and messaging communications towards multiple destinations.
